Open air filter

Peace be upon you; how would an open air filter be on a diesel F30? Would it make a sound?

and peace be with you too, since it's open under the hood it draws in the engine's hot air, which means the fuel doesn't burn fully. You have to keep it at high RPM all the time, something like 3000 RPM, but it does give a nice pleasant sound even if it's nothing amazing

If a proper filter setup is done separately from the engine bay and no fake product is used, it'd be good. If it's close to the engine it draws hot air, and hot air isn't good on the intake side - it's fine for the air to heat up after the intercooler, so because of that a boxed filter, or the setup I mentioned, would be good

I fitted it not to the big F30 but to a 1.4hdi diesel engine, I didn't delete the sensor, it threw an air fault and asked for a software fix. Also, on a diesel it doesn't really give that intake roar sound, it's a bit disappointing - a "chug chug" kind of thing. Don't expect much if you're going to fit one at all, and my opinion - I don't have statistics on this - but unless you fool the sensor with a resistor or use software, performance drops on a diesel. Also, never use a fake, cheap product, fit a quality one, and keep it away from dusty, dirt roads
