EDC 6-speed dry clutch occasional noise on 1-2 shifts

Original Poster

I drive a 2015 1.5 dCi Clio. Sometimes there's a noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, they say it's an operating sound. Has anyone experienced this? By the way there's no shuddering or knocking or anything.

The way it works is the same as DSG. Since it's a dry dual-clutch system, it brings a lot of problems with it. That's why the 1-2 shift and the 2-to-1 downshift noise that's been notorious in DSGs for years is normal. People trash CVT gearboxes for being slow, but it's 100% better than these crappy dry-clutch systems

Thanks for your comment. I'm using EDC for the first time, and I also agree with you about durability as a dry clutch, but for someone expecting performance, CVT-style gearboxes might not feel that great. EDC doesn't promise much performance either, that's a separate matter, but DSG is snappier.

I also have a Duster 1.3 TCe EDC. While driving at 65-70, it shifts into 6th gear, the revs drop a lot, and when I give it gas it doesn't respond - I have to floor it a lot to get it to downshift. I couldn't figure out a fix.
