COOLANT LOSS

Original Poster

2016 BMW 118i is losing coolant but there's no coolant leak anywhere; when you load the throttle, water drips from the exhaust but there's no smoke at all, though the smell is like it's burning fuel raw. Does anyone have information on this, guys?

Hello and best regards. I think your car could possibly be losing coolant from 2 points. The first is the turbo, the second is the oil cooler. Since both are expensive parts, you should consult a specialist for an exact diagnosis.

I recommend getting a pressure test done. If there's no leak in the hoses or radiator, it might be taking on water from the head gasket. God forbid, let me just say, don't put it off, definitely get it checked. Before anything else, get a gasket test done. If the gasket test comes back bad, the likely scenario will be what I said :(

Hello, It's been about 10k km since the turbo was replaced, I'm not someone who drives it hard. We did a pressure test, no leak was found. We also did a head gasket burn test, and it was seen there was no issue there either. Someone knowledgeable said it could be due to the EGR cooler being punctured or cracked, and after looking into it a bit online I saw that it could be possible..

There's most likely a water leak in the EGR line. If it gets worse, since water won't compress, it'll be a problem for the piston during compression, bro, get it checked before time passes. If it's the oil cooler, water would mix into the oil.
