Dear users, In my 2014 Mercedes C207 (E250 Coupe) there's a rumbling noise like a bearing (all 4 discs, pads and wheel bearings were just replaced); it increases noticeably at 40-60 km/h, at higher speeds I can't hear it because of road noise, and if I shift into neutral while the car is moving the noise stops. The mechanic I trust said differential, but the noise seems to come more from the front. Could it be the gearbox or the driveshaft? Does anyone among you have such an experience?

3 repliesIf it were a differential noise, the sound should continue when you put it in neutral - focus on the transmission and the driveshaft, but it's odd that the noise stops when you shift into neutral. If you know a mechanic who can put the car on a lift and listen to it, I'd go see them.
Translated from Turkish@hakansag thank you for the input, my thinking is in the same direction as yours. We put it up on the lift, but they said something like it seems to be protecting itself. The apprentice pressed the gas but it didn't rev up, it only turned at idle speed so we couldn't hear it clearly. The transmission oil change is due, so I'll take this opportunity and focus on that. There's a problem with a bearing, but I don't know how I'll find it.
Translated from Turkish@mefruce You're welcome. You need to turn off ESP - Mercedes has a kind of hidden menu on the screen, you can turn it off from there, if you check YouTube or something you'll find it easily. Try that as well.
