Noise from the rear left?

In my 2000 model Phase 2 sedan Megane 1, when there's a passenger in the back and I go over speed bumps or potholes a bit fast, it sounds like the tire is low on air and the rim is hitting something. It doesn't do this when going slowly or when there's no passenger in the back. What could be causing this? I suspect the shock absorbers but I'm not sure.
