Opel Astra 1.6 CDTI Dynamic package

Original Poster

Peace be upon you everyone, good day. In April I'm thinking of buying this car outright. It'll be something like my 2nd car. In terms of price/performance it satisfied me a lot. The money I'll pay is around 1-1.2 million. If I can find one, I'm also looking for the Excellence package. I'd be very grateful if anyone who currently drives or has driven this car could comment. I'm looking at diesel automatics around 100-120k km. I'll mostly use it in Istanbul and for what count as medium-short distances. I'm not in very heavy traffic going to work; I leave the traffic after at most 10-15 minutes of congestion. Would the automatic gearbox be tiring? I'm 30, but I also want something a bit young and sporty. What are your comments? Thanks again, good day

And peace be upon you too - as far as I know it has a torque-converter transmission, a fluid change is recommended between 100-150k km. If the transmission has been treated well, I don't think it'll wear out. In terms of driving character, it's one of the last genuinely fun-to-drive Opels. I drove an Astra J sedan for 2 years, and I think it's above the C-segment in terms of enjoyment. The Focus, Astra, and Giulietta of these years need to be set apart from the regular C-segment - it has a more fun ESP than the VAG group, more forgiving, though it doesn't fully cut in - fully loaded, above its segment.

And peace be upon you too, mate. Nice car, but if you considered an Insignia instead, it's more fun, more solid, more good-looking - road holding, comfort, everything about it is top-tier, it's a D-segment after all. I'm currently an Insignia owner, I drive it with a ton of enjoyment, but unfortunately I had to sell it for financial reasons. If I sold this one I'd get another old-body Insignia again, that's how fun a car it is.
