Can I get some info from friends driving a 316i F30?

If you say you'll drive it gently and won't push the car hard, then go for it - just definitely get the software that adjusts the thermostat settings done. If you say you're set on getting an F30 and your budget covers it, you can buy it, but I switched from the 16i to the 20d diesel and it's a whole different world.

If you can afford it, get a clean 320d and enjoy it. The 316i and 320i ED are chronically problematic cars because of their engines. The 316i's oil cooler is small so it overheats a lot, which can even lead to the engine going out. The 320i ED's oil cooler is bigger, relatively healthier, but definitely not problem-free. The most solid choice is the 320d.

My 2012 model F30 blew its engine at 112K km. The reason was that the aluminum plug inside the engine melted over time, the plug burst, and the engine took on water. A piston bent. Exactly one year ago it got a brand-new engine for 120K TL.
