Car advice between 1.8-2.2 million

Original Poster

Hello everyone. I've been actively driving a 2017 A3 for about 50,000 km. I'm very happy with my car, but with the excitement of my age I want to move up to a slightly higher-class car. For about 2 months there hasn't been a car on the yellow site I haven't looked at. Nor a Sinan test video I haven't watched??. I'm not a technology enthusiast; what matters to me is a car with good handling and satisfying performance (150-200 hp+). I'm 20; big car, small car doesn't matter to me. Automatic is my preference but I can consider a manual. I await your advice

Bro, if you can find one, check out the 2.0 TDI 190hp Passats, or you could look at 2.0 TFSI Quattro A4s - the model year will be a bit older, but performance-wise it'll satisfy you a lot

I've also been looking for a car for a month with a max budget of 1.85. C180 156hp gasoline, 2016, around 120,000 km CLA200 gasoline A200 gasoline C200d (the 160hp one) New generation A3 Cupra Formentor 3.20d low mileage I'll be following this thread, there must be people here who drive these kinds of cars. Their comments and evaluations matter to me I narrowed the list down this way based on my own preferences 😀

For that price range you can look at the i20N, Golf R, Leon Cupra, BMW 328i-428i, Type R. The most fun one is of course the BMW since it's rear-wheel drive - after the A3 everything else will feel really good. The i20N stands out for being new, and it also has a limited-slip diff.

If a clean one can be found, a 320d F30 or 520d F10 could work. The i20 N is a nice option, both exciting and a newer model, a trouble-free car, it might just take a bit longer to sell. A Honda Civic Type R could work too, but like the i20 N, it'll take a while to sell. A Cupra Formentor 1.5 TSI could work. Very clean examples of the pre-facelift body can be found, and it's also easy to sell.

Honestly, the first cars I looked at were the new-generation A3. But there's been a serious drop in quality in the car, the insulation etc. Unfortunately I can't consider cars like the i20 N or Type R. Because I'm looking for a car with somewhat lower consumption, I do over 30K a year and travel long distance often. I've spent time with the Cupra Formentor, in fact the dealer is apparently asking 2.3M for it now, but the car feels seriously stripped-down. I looked into the 320d, and there's a very unfair market there too. Clean ones are asking over 2 million, and the wrecked ones go for hilariously low prices

This week, a Golf 8 1.5 eTSI Style trim showed up on my radar. Around 1.9M you can find accident-free 20-30K km 22-model ones or so, with tuning etc., they say it's a car with more upside, I'm thinking I could bring the look in line with my age with a few small custom parts. It's a lot cheaper than the new A3. This week I got the chance to test drive the 1.0 eTSI model, and I did like it. Even with 18-inch wheels on it, the comfort was good. I'll keep looking into it, and next month I'll list my current car for sale and move to the new one.
