Friends, for years we've bought brand-new Qashqais for our mom. We get the servicing done at the dealer too. So there'd be a warranty, and even after the warranty runs out, a goodwill warranty, or so we thought. But apparently there's no such thing as goodwill at Nissan. In 2020 we bought, brand new, a 1.3 petrol 160hp automatic from the İzmir Nissan Artkıy dealer. This is the TCE engine you know from Renaults and Mercedes — 130hp in the Clio, 150hp in the Megane, and 163hp in the A200 and CLA200. While our car was at 70,000 km, doing 120 km/h, the thermostat suddenly blew on the road. You can't tell while driving. And all the coolant spills out onto the road instantly. The car is left with zero coolant. Within 2-3 minutes the car's temperature immediately maxes out, and it gives absolutely no warning that coolant is low or to pull over urgently or stop the car. The engine warning light doesn't come on. So in short, you're driving along, watching the road, and within 3 minutes the car overheats and loses power, and only then, wondering “what's going on”, do you pull over. Sorry to say, small wisps of smoke had already started rising from under the hood. The more exciting part of it: NISSAN absolutely will not put this under warranty. They won't accept responsibility. I'll say it in quotes — the “special discounted price they got from Nissan” that they're offering you is 400,000 TL! And that doesn't even include the cylinder head cover. It includes things like the engine block, the head cover gasket, and so on. We're so “thankful” that they won't be charging us for the thermostat that blew <3. Apparently they don't give you a replacement car for 40 days. Their legal responsibility only kicks in if they haven't delivered the car by day 40. But then, ta-da, surprise — they don't give you a replacement car on that day either. They say they're going to start correspondence about it. It gets resolved 2-3 days later. Only then can they give you a replacement car. On December 15th it'll be 40 days since my car was towed to the service center. Getting the engine block in, doing the installation etc. will take until around January 15th for them to deliver my car. Meanwhile, İZMİR NİSSAN ARTKIY won't even let you pay the 400,000 TL cost in interest-free installments on your credit card. I've never been this humiliated with this much money in my life. Think three times before buying a Qashqai.

2 repliesGet well soon. I also have a 2020 1.3 Qashqai with 66k km, fully serviced. Before your next service, get the thermostat changed — even though I told them these cars have had a lot of issues with the thermostat, the authorized service told me they'd never encountered this problem before to this day :) Unfortunately the brands don't stand behind their cars...
Translated from TurkishUpdate on the topic. On the 40th day my car was at the service, they finally assigned me a courtesy car, thanks to them. They gave me a 2025-model Qashqai from a rental company, thanks to them.
