Brake system

I think I really pushed the brake system hard on a track day. The brake pedal went rock hard, and the discs and pads were literally throwing sparks/flames :) The pads had already started squealing for a week or two, and after this happened on top of it, I think they need replacing. Actually, I want to go bigger on the discs, calipers and pads. I'm running 16-inch Bentley wheels. I got some help from ChatGPT and it said 28mm x 22mm would be compatible, but I don't know much about brake systems. Could you suggest parts that would fit the car? Also, do the brake fluid and lines need to be changed?

Just renewing the disc won't be very effective. Using a brake master cylinder, brake hoses, brake fluid, calipers and discs matched and sized up for the master cylinder, you can get quite an effective result. If you're going for the cheap route, drain the fluid and switch to steel brake lines, drilled discs and performance pads. Also get a rebuild kit for your calipers and refresh the internals. And if you want a direct answer to your question, yes; of course a fluid change is necessary.
