Tire patch or replacement?

Brand-new tires; a stone on the road split the inner part of the rear tire. Many people say replace it, but we did an inner patch. Do you think that's sound, or is replacing both rear tires a must?

Hi, sorry to hear that — it's torn in a really unfortunate spot, a patch on the sidewall isn't very safe in my opinion. Unfortunately you need to replace it with a new one

You're right, they told me only patches made for heavy vehicles would hold, I took it to an off-road tire shop, because heavy-vehicle repair shops' equipment is too big for it. I'll keep checking the pressure for a while, and if the patch starts giving way as it flexes in corners, I'll replace it.

I don't think it'll fail because the patch doesn't hold, but you never know, it could go in a corner, it's not worth having trouble over, I'd say don't take the risk. Get well soon again.

Thank you very much, they did a hot patch. I'm driving carefully for 1-2 weeks, depending on how it goes a replacement will probably be necessary.

I had the same procedure done - an internal patch was applied (in the oven), I haven't had any problems, it's been 3 months.

It's been a month for me too, still no problem. Apparently people who repair tires for trucks and heavy vehicles do a bigger patch for damage near the edge. But the hot patch held anyway. Thank you.

In the short term I got a flat patch done, at least it got us home. The next day a hot patch was done, it's been fine, mashallah 🧿
