Is the PCX worth buying?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a scooter to use at university and to do Istanbul-Bursa once a month. Any recommendations?

For fuel economy in the city and for just puttering along to escape traffic, it's the perfect bike for Istanbul. I started out looking at Chinese brands, and once the PCX won me over I used it for 1 year, I'd absolutely recommend it. I had to move out of town for work and the bike stayed in Istanbul, it's the thing I miss most, it's just sitting there :)

I've really taken a liking to the PCX too, but there's the Kuba Newcity 50, which comes with a 125cc kit from the factory. That way I'd also avoid insurance, comprehensive insurance etc. expenses. I'm torn between them.

I don't want to comment without having used it, but I too started out by going to different brands' stores and looking at scooters at half the price of the PCX. Even if they have different advantages, the risk of suddenly running into strange problems is quite scary, service issues and little annoyances are really irritating. I lean toward reliability — a scooter that's been carefully built down to the Michelin tires, I think, is not worth risking as long as finances allow.

Mate, when it comes to Japanese bikes, Honda stands out among the Japanese brands both for reliability and fuel consumption. This holds true for the PCX specifically too, and on top of that it's a bike that's loaded in terms of comfort and extra accessories.

You can easily find parts for the PCX, easily find a mechanic for it, it's cheap to run, sips fuel, its tires, brake pads and oil are affordable, it's easy to use, it goes better and stops better than the alleged 'Chinese knockoff' machines that are claimed to be its rivals. If you buy a clean or brand-new one and take good care of it, you'll ride it for decades and it'll be passed down to your kids — the only thing that matters is your expectations for long trips. If you say you want to cruise steadily at 130-140, this isn't the engine for that, but if you say you'll happily cruise along at eighty without getting bored, it'll make you happy.
