Big-trunk car recommendation around 1.5M

We currently have a 2018 Caddy DSG. My dad does painting and decorating work, and he's gotten used to the trunk space of the Caddy, but he also wants to try a passenger car. He's considering the new-generation '21/'22 Caddy too. In this price range, what sedan/wagon/SUV would you suggest that has relatively large trunk space, isn't too thirsty, doesn't have major chronic issues, and isn't too old or high-mileage? Insignia Excellence 1.6 CDTI Passat Variant B8 Peugeot 5008 1.5/1.6 C5 Aircross Grandland These are the first ones that come to mind — what alternatives would you suggest? He's also looking at W205 C200 and A4 B8 models.
