Interior dome light problem

Esteemed masters, first of all I wish you all a good day. I really enjoy tinkering with my car as an amateur at home, but the other day something unpleasant happened to me, in my view. I wanted to add footwell lighting to my car that would work off the interior roof light, so I identified the roof light's ground and constant-12V wires and connected my install cable. When I tested the LEDs I'd bought, before I'd even run the cable to the pedal area, they worked as they should, but after I soldered the wires and neatly insulated them with heat-shrink tubing and electrical tape, I carefully ran the cable to the pedal area using a guide, and my cable wasn't damaged during this process. This time, at the point where I fitted the LEDs, they kept flickering really badly, and the roof light was behaving the same way. When I switched the roof light's mode from door-triggered to always-on (on), the lights lit up at the level they should. I completely removed the cable I'd run and inspected thoroughly around the roof light — thankfully there's no damaged wire, but even after removing the LEDs the fault still continues. I'd be very happy if there's a master here who could help with this. My car: E120-chassis 2007 model Toyota Corolla Sedan, with Terra package trim.
